Place the chickpeas, garlic, salt, cumin, and olive oil into a food processor or blender. Process on a low setting, drizzling in the leftover bean liquid until you reach the texture you prefer.
It simply isn't hummus if you don't include tahini. Plus, the cumin flavor is way too strong.
Very simple to prepare. I reduced the amount of cumin slightly, but the hummus turned out very well.
Haha, the first time I made hummus, I went overboard with the garlic—like 6 cloves. I pretty much live alone, so I didn't realize the garlic was seeping through my pores and breath. I was in the car with a friend, and she had to roll down both windows. The garlic scent was irritating her eyes! I'm preparing it tonight and plan to go lighter on the garlic this time.
